We have been commissioned by the Open Contracting Partnership (OCP) to carry out a study researching opportunities for adopting Open Contracting policies and practices in Greater Manchester.
Open Contracting is about looking at the contracts that government bodies (local and national) have with businesses and the voluntary sector, and making these and the process around them, like bidding, more transparent. It is hoped that making contracting more open will save governments money and time, deliver better goods and services for citizens, prevent corruption, and to create a better business environment for everyone.
This study will be achieved through desk research as well as holding interviews, workshops, and focus groups to talk to a variety of people from all backgrounds, across Greater Manchester about their experiences and opinions of contracting and how it can be made more open. We will then present our findings in a report at a launch event, where we will have invited those who we talked to as part of the project.
