BMA Local Structures Audit
We undertook a major review of representation and support for members at local level, identifying the needs of members to ensure the BMA has modern, responsive, democratic structures at a local level that support members, give members a voice and provide accountability
EU Network Mapping
Client: DG EMPL, European Commission
Demsoc undertook network mapping of online and offline influencers in employment, Europe 2020, health and welfare, poverty, social inclusion, and youth unemployment in the English language across the EU (limited to English language). This work was presented to DG Empl with advice on how to access and use this network to benefit their organisational objectives.
Client: European Parliament in the UK
We were tasked with moderating an online discussion in advance or Viviane Reding's Feb 2014 visit to the UK (Talk Europe).
Alongside we carried out two events about the future of the EU (Future EU), one that focused on young people and their role within the EU and the second with Age UK about ageing populations.
A written paper exploring the lexicon of digital engagement tools used in discussing science policy with the public. The target audience was civil servants and policy makers working specifically in science policy. The paper used a series of case studies, novel mapping (linking digital typography to need) and analysis of the value of digital tools for public engagement. The paper was one of Sciencewise's show cased pieces based on positive feedback and a high hit rate.
Democratic Public Services in Lambeth

Lambeth was moving towards a Cooperative model in its service provision, the way in which democratic processes are carried out in Lambeth is quite traditional. The reason for this work was to provide a democratic basis for the revisions to the Council’s constitution in advance of the annual meeting in May. Our work was to consider the ways in which democratic engagement and the demand for increased participation could be reflected both in the Council's constitution and in the actions that it and its communities take.
FCO Digital Diplomacy Training

We provide full training for foreign ministries and embassies so that they can make the most of social media, from in the classroom training to digital simulations, Digital Diplomacy helps staff to build their knowledge and confidence in this vital part of foreign ministry work, so it can become and integral part of how they carry out international diplomacy.
Carnegie Media Regulation Report
This project was an on and offline discussion to answer the question: 'How can media and media regulation create an environment that supports new forms of localized and participative democracy?' The final report was submitted to the Leveson Inquiry. You can access the report here.
