Andrew Brightwell

Andrew is a digital communications and engagement specialist who is currently our Interim Scotland Manager.

Following a career as a local news journalist, in 2009 Andrew joined Podnosh – helping to run their award-winning Social Media Surgeries. Seeing how the surgeries helped community groups – and witnessing how groups could network, communicate and thrive online – inspired Andrew to pursue a career in digital engagement.

Since then he has worked for Public-i, first as their online communities manager – where he helped councils reach out to online groups and communities. Then he became a digital communications consultant – advising leadership teams on how best to respond to a changing communications and engagement landscape.

Andrew led the digital communications work stream for the groundbreaking NHS Citizen programme – pioneering new forms new engagement and participation pathways for NHS England.

Since then, he has been an independent consultant, working with public and private sector clients on communications and engagement projects.
